COMMUNITY SUPPORT

DROP-IN/RESOURCE CENTRE

Women & gender-diverse folks can drop by for info, a snack, & to receive supplies (harm reduction, hygiene - by donation, & menstrual). We are open for phone & washroom use as well as to cool down/warm up.

COUNSELLING

Our Counselling Program offers individual, drop-in, phone, and group counselling. All counselling services are free of charge and open to all women & gender-diverse folks above the age of 18.

HEALING & WELLNESS

Based on the traditional teachings of the Medicine Wheel, it is the goal of the Healing & Wellness program to provide opportunities to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health and well-being of women & gender-diverse folks in our community that have been impacted by violence.

SETTLEMENT

Settlement services is a holistic support program for newcomer women & gender-diverse folks as they adapt to life in Canada and integrate into the community.

OUTREACH

On Mon/Tues/Fri, you’ll see the NEWC van on the streets of Winnipeg. We partner with Acorn Family Place to bring warm nutritious meals, made with love, out to encampments etc. We also distribute harm reduction supplies, warm winter wear, & menstrual/hygiene supplies and connect folks to community resources, including ours at NEWC. FAMILY ADVOCATE (CFS)

The Family Advocate helps participants navigate the child welfare system (CFS) by assisting them with reunification plans and supports families that are at risk of apprehension.  Specifically, the Family Advocate can assist with setting up meetings with CFS, providing court support, advocating with social assistance (EIA) and navigating housing challenges related to their CFS involvement.

PARENTING & FAMILY

This program supports participants to improve caregiving skills by providing one-on-one sessions with caregivers and groups.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

NEWC’S Transitional Housing is a supportive environment for women & gender-diverse folks who are unsheltered and looking to participate in programs customized to their individual needs.

VOLUNTEER

North End Women’s Centre offers volunteer opportunities & student placements for folks looking to gain volunteer / pre-employment experience or to give back to community (or both!).

SUMMER

Summer Programming offers women & gender-diverse caregivers and their children opportunities to make crafts and enjoy some summer fun together. Healthy snacks, supplies and bus tokens are provided.  

COMMUNITY HOUSING

This program looks to provide support for women & gender-diverse folks who are chronically, episodically or at risk of homelessness with opportunity for housing placement, pre-employment support as well as skill development related to housing loss prevention, housing skills and life skill development.

UP SHOPPE: SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THRIFT SHOP

The Up Shoppe is a social enterprise of North End Women’s Centre. We accept donations to re-sell at a very reasonable cost.

Access Point – A place where someone facing homelessness can find support; a place to access Naatamooskakkowin’s intake and sharing process; an agency that has “Sharing Team” staff using a shared information system.
