NEWCOMER/SETTLEMENT PROGRAM

Newcomer/Settlement services is a holistic support program for newcomer women & gender-diverse folks as they adapt to life in Canada and integrate into the community. We partner with Mount Carmel Clinic’s “Multicultural Wellness Program” to provide trauma support services to increase newcomers’ wellbeing. We also support the building of bridges between newcomer and Indigenous participants, creating meaningful relationships and understanding.

We would like to acknowledge that we are gathered on Treaty one territory which is the ancestral lands of Anishinaabeg, the Dene, the Cree, the Oji-Cree and the Dakota people and the homeland of the Métis nation.

We remember that all the people of all the generations for thousands of years who lived, loved, worked, died and were buried on this land, remain here. They have not left, they have merely been transformed.

We remember to tread softly on this earth as we offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land: those living now, those who have lived before, and those who have yet to come into being.
